DRRM began with a practical question: how can households in Seychelles find clear, useful information about preparedness and resilient homes? That starting point gave the website its early focus and continues to inform its development. As the initiative takes shape, its purpose is broadening to explore how development and resilience connect in everyday life.
The name we have chosen is Development and Resilience Research Monitor (DRRM). The descriptor is Research on development and resilience in Seychelles. Together, the name and descriptor express the wider direction of this independent, research-oriented initiative.
A broader research direction
Resilience is connected to the choices that shape development: how places grow, how institutions work and how people participate in decisions affecting their lives. Understanding these connections means looking beyond individual preparedness to the conditions that influence people’s ability to adapt, recover and build a more secure future.
This is the broader direction DRRM is developing. The aim is to connect research with clear explanations, examine questions in their Seychelles context and make room for thoughtful discussion about development and resilience. The project’s practical roots remain important, while its research perspective is widening.
The logo: overlapping shapes and contrasting colours
The logo brings together overlapping geometric forms on a light, subtly textured background. Blue and teal circles intersect with a large pale teal triangle and a dark blue diamond-shaped form. A bright orange-red angular shape stands out near the centre. Translucent layers create darker and lighter areas where the forms overlap.
These visible features give the logo a layered appearance and a strong contrast between cool and warm colours. This description concerns the design itself; it does not assign official meanings to its shapes or colours.
Still taking shape
DRRM remains an independent initiative and a website in development. Its story is one of an initial practical focus growing into a wider research purpose, with the logo accompanying that developing identity.
Readers are invited to explore the site and discover the work for themselves. The aim is to keep making questions about development and resilience in Seychelles easier to understand, question and discuss.
